Red Sox Autographs to Strike out Cancer for The Jimmy Fund - Tickets On Sale Now

BOSTON - Boston Red Sox stars are pitching in by signing autographs to help strike out cancer for the Jimmy Fund. "New Stars for Young Stars II" will be at Jillian's Boston on Saturday, Jan. 6. This year's line-up not only includes some of the team's newest stars, but Red Sox great Curt Schilling. The rest of the roster for the second annual New Stars for Young Stars includes pitchers Jonathan Papelbon and his brother Josh, who is in the Red Sox minor league system. Pitchers Craig Hansen, Manny DelCarmen, and David Pauley have also joined the New Stars team, along with Red Sox minor-league pitcher of the year Clay Buchholz and his teammate from the Pawtucket Red Sox, Phil Seibel, plus Kason Gabbard. More players are expected to attend. Hosted by the Jimmy Fund Council of Greater Boston, New Stars for Young Stars II consists of the newest Sox stars making an appearance to benefit the Jimmy's Fund Clinic's youngest stars, who are battling many forms of cancer. This year the event will honor Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester, who is currently undergoing treatment for anaplastic large cell lymphoma. Last year, this home run event raised $20,000 for cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The autograph session is open to the public from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Prior to the public session, the players will meet privately at Jillian's with children being treated for cancer at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. Three tiers of tickets are on sale now at www.jimmyfund.org/new-stars. All tickets come with lunch for four people, allowing a parent to bring three children, for example. However, only the ticket holder is allowed to get one autograph per player. Limited tickets are available. If the event is not sold out online, then tickets will be available at the door. Platinum tickets cost $169, which includes autographs from all of the players, a Red Sox game jersey, and a guarantee of being one of the first 15 people in line. Gold tickets cost $129 for autographs from all players and a major league baseball. Gold ticket holders will be one of the first 50 people in line. Silver tickets cost $99 each and include autographs from all of the players.

There will also be bowling contests to win Red Sox memorabilia and a silent sports auction, all to support the Jimmy Fund. Founded in 1948, the Jimmy Fund is an official charity of the Boston Red Sox. It supports the fight against cancer at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world-renowned pioneer in discovering and developing innovative, effective cancer therapies for adults as well as children.
